Tonight in Blogging: Wednesday, Jan. 30

Tonight we'll have a terrific presentation by Michelle on the site Bookshelf Porn, which will leave us all lusting for the perfect reading/writing space.

Then we'll spend some time visiting each other's blogs.

Later, I'll ask each of you to come up and talk about one of the blogs on your blogroll. You'll discuss how you found the blog, why you've included it in your blogroll, what you've learned from the blog, how your blog fits into that landscape, your interactions with writers at the blog, etc.

We'll have two short in-class writing assignments to give you a headstart on your week's blogging.

And we'll have a stimulating Powerpoint lecture on Building Community Through Blogging.

How's that for a full night's work?

Assignments:

Maintain your blog. Five new posts. If you're not already doing so, try to vary the style/format of your posts, particularly if you're feeling mud-runny. We'll discuss this in class.

Continue to tweak the design of your blog. Be sure it's reader/viewer friendly. Borrow ideas from the blogs in class and in your outside blog community.

Add two more outside blogs to your blog roll and try to comment on those blogs to continuously build your community.

Work with your blog partner all week. Be sure to comment consistently. Your work with your blog partner counts as class participation, too.

Blog Partners This Week:

Kramer and Whitly
Michelle and SuJahn
Caitlin and Taylor
Kyle and Amanda and Colin
Alexandria and Kelsey

This week I'll be visiting SuJahn's and Kramer's blog.

Next Week's Presentation:  Amanda on "Awesome People Hanging Out Together"
