Tonight in Blogging: Wednesday, Feb. 6 

Tonight we'll have a guest speaker. Meghan Tutolo, whose 1Fly Chicken blog is on our blog roll, will be here to talk about her work as the senior writer for the Delallo Company and to answer any questions you have about how your web-writing skills translate in the marketplace.

 

Then we'll have a terrific presentation by Amanda on the Awesome People Hanging Out Together.

Then we'll spend some time visiting each other's blogs.

We'll have one short in-class writing assignment to give you a headstart on your week's blogging.

 

And we'll begin discussing the how-tos of self-editing and trying to write fresh. (We'll continue this next week, so be sure to read the handout from William Zinsser's ON WRITING WELL that I'll give you tonight.)

Assignments:

Maintain your blog. Five new posts. If you're not already doing so, try to vary the style/format of your posts, particularly if you're feeling mud-runny. We'll discuss this in class.

Continue to tweak the design of your blog. Be sure it's reader/viewer friendly. Borrow ideas from the blogs in class and in your outside blog community.

Add two more outside blogs to your blog roll and try to comment on those blogs to continuously build your community.

Work with your blog partner all week. Be sure to comment consistently. Your work with your blog partner counts as class participation, too.

Read Zinsser handout and be ready to come to class and edit, edit, edit.
